The treatment is performed under local anaesthetic in a safe, sterile environment, ensuring the very best patient care. Once it’s taken effect, the device probe is inserted under the skin through small incisions.
When the RF energy is delivered, a popping or crackling sound will usually be audible. This is perfectly normal and indicates the appropriate level of heating and contraction of the subcutaneous tissues, resulting in lifting of the face and neck by shrinking and tightening the skin.
The heat energy also destroys some of the fat cells, so we often accompany the procedure with a little liposuction on the neck and jowls to give that perfect jawline definition.
Depending on the number of treatment areas, the procedure takes about an hour and a half. Other than the nip of the local anaesthetic injections it is low pain, though expect to feel a gentle tugging sensation.
When treatment is complete, the puncture sites are protected with small plasters and a compression face support is worn for a few days (see aftercare).
Following the procedure, expect downtime of 1-2 weeks. During this time it’s normal for your face to feel swollen and tender, and experience some skin numbness for a few weeks.
Results are immediately noticeable though best results are usually seen after four months, developing over the course of 5-10 years from treatment.
RF energy is a well-established skin tightening treatment, with clinical trials showing the degree to which skin contracts is closely correlated with the amount of energy delivered to the tissues.
As traditional RF treatments rely upon applying heat externally, we need to use a lower temperature to reduce the risk of risking burns and scarring the skin.
FaceTite & NeckTite is different. It’s a sub-dermal treatment, meaning higher temperatures can safely be used.
The compression face support should be worn for 3 days, only being removed to wash the face. Beyond day 3, it can be beneficial to wear the support at night for the following week to help reduce any swelling. For the first week following treatment:
- keep the skin clean and dry.
- avoid makeup if possible.
- wear sun protection when outdoors.
- complete the FrownDocs prescribed course of antibiotics as advised.
